Home Inspectors – 3 Best Tools
I am going to give you my thoughts on home inspectors 3 best tools. These tools are a must-have if you are a home inspector. I don’t think I could do a home inspection without them.
Flashlight
The flashlight is most likely the most important tool on the job. Most homes are not lit well and if I can’t see I have a high chance of missing something. The thing about flashlight is you get what you pay for. LED is the king in the space now and they can put off a lot of light.
The flashlight that is my go-to is the
Non-contact voltage tester
This tool has saved my butt more than a few times! The value of this tool is seeing a problem before someone gets hurt. I constantly find wires in a home that don’t even have wire nuts on them and they are exposed for anyone to grab.
I do this before opening any panel…

Respirator
I spent a lot of years not wearing a respirator. I can remember the day I decided that I would everytime in the future for attics and crawl-spaces. I was trying to get into a very tight attic space. When I finally got through the insulation covering the hatch I took a deep breath and then noticed the whole attic was covered in a thick white dust. To this day I have no idea what breathed in but my guess it was some type of pest treatment.
Crawl-spaces have all kinds of things that you don’t want to be breathing in. All kinds of animals live in these spaces and they use the space as there toilet. Nevermind all the homes with mold in the crawl space. I think being a good home inspector means being a smart home inspector. This means to have the correct tools for the job!
